Touchscreen unresponsive or showing errors

The PrimaDonna's colour touchscreen interface is the primary control point for the entire machine. Screen faults — partial responsiveness, random touches, or complete display failure — are more common on older Soul and Elite models that have been exposed to significant steam or humidity. The screen assembly is a replaceable unit, though it is one of the higher-cost components.

Automatic milk carafe not producing froth

Similar to the Dinamica's LatteCrema system, the PrimaDonna's integrated milk carafe uses fine internal tubing and a mixing chamber. Milk protein buildup from irregular cleaning is the leading cause of milk system failure. In UAE ambient temperatures, dried milk residue can block the circuit within 24–48 hours if the rinse cycle is not run.

Coffee output weak despite full bean hopper

Grinder burr wear on the PrimaDonna tends to develop gradually. Owners often adjust the grind setting progressively finer as the burrs wear, until the setting no longer compensates. At that point, the output is consistently weak regardless of setting, and burr replacement is the correct repair.

Wi-Fi or app connectivity lost

On PrimaDonna models with De'Longhi's Coffee Link app connectivity, firmware errors can cause the Wi-Fi module to lose connection permanently. This usually requires a factory reset and firmware re-flash, which should only be done by a technician to avoid losing machine calibration data.

Machine overheating or cutting out

The PrimaDonna's dual heating system — separate boilers for brewing and steam — generates significant heat. In UAE kitchens during summer, machines placed in enclosed cabinets or against walls with inadequate ventilation are prone to thermal cutout triggering. The fix is often positional rather than mechanical, though a failed temperature sensor occasionally causes the same symptom.

Grinder jammed or producing no grounds

The PrimaDonna is a reliable machine when properly maintained. In the UAE, the following habits will significantly extend its working life:

• Run the milk system rinse cycle after every single use — in UAE heat this is non-negotiable

• Descale every 3–4 weeks on UAE tap water; the dual boiler system accumulates scale twice as fast as single-boiler machines

• Ensure the machine has at least 15 cm clearance on all sides for ventilation — critical in enclosed kitchen cabinets

• Clean the brew unit every 7 days and run the internal rinse program daily

• Use the De'Longhi Coffee Link app to monitor the machine's maintenance alerts if your model supports it

• Avoid very dark, oily roasts — the residue accelerates grinder and brew unit wear in UAE temperatures

My PrimaDonna Soul touchscreen works sometimes and not others — can it be repaired?

Intermittent screen responsiveness is often caused by moisture ingress around the screen edges from steam exposure. In some cases, careful resealing and drying resolves it. If the screen controller has been damaged, a screen assembly replacement is required. Book a diagnosis and we will assess which applies.

The PrimaDonna is making a loud vibrating noise when brewing — is this serious?

A vibrating or rattling noise during brewing usually indicates either a loose internal component — sometimes the drip tray — or a pump that is working against partial scale resistance. Check the drip tray first. If the noise persists, book a service call as the pump may be under stress from scaling.

Can you update the firmware on my PrimaDonna?

Yes. If your machine requires a firmware update as part of a fault resolution, we carry this out during the service visit. We do not perform standalone firmware updates, as incorrect firmware installation can cause the machine to lose calibration settings.
